About The J.A.D.C.
OUR HISTORY!
The Jersey Amateur Dramatic Club, formerly the Amateur Dramatic Club was formed in 1939 when a group of young men advertised in the Jersey Evening Post for:

"Any young ladies interested in a newly formed Dramatic Club, please enclose photo!"

The first production was “The Man who stayed at Home” and the Club flourished, staging plays right through the Occupation whilst rehearsing in members' houses. In 1949, the Club moved into their first clubroom in Haimance Place, near where the Jersey Arts Centre is today, consistently doing one or two plays a year.
When the lease was up, the Club continued in Members' houses until 1989 when they moved into a little old Theatre in the grounds of the Sacre Coeur in Rouge Bouillon. At this point they branched out into musicals and pantomimes as well as the traditional plays.
In 1997 the JADC decided it was time for the Club to have its own clubroom and it purchased “The Barn”, which was converted from old cow stables to provide 10,000 square feet with separate costume rooms, scenery dock and two large rehearsal rooms (1 the size of the Jersey Opera House stage).
Now, we present pantomimes, musicals, classical plays and comedies. We enter the Jersey Eisteddfod and arrange club night functions, such as Salsa Nights, Quizzes and Dinner Theatre, while rehearsing and presenting up to five Productions a year. We strive to produce high quality productions and we are proud that as well as acting we are able to design and construct our own sets, lighting and sound. Club members also provide stage management, backstage and front of house activities.
Putting on a show demands talent both on-stage and off and we are always looking for new talent. So if you can sing, dance, act, direct, design posters, paint and design sets, make costumes, help backstage, or front-of-house or just make tea, we need you!
