The Vagina Monologues

The Vagina Monologues
by Eve Ensler
Directed by: Dani Perrier
9th-12th March 2026
Jersey Arts Centre
In 1994, a play called The Vagina Monologues, written by playwright and activist V (formerly Eve Ensler), broke ground, offering to the world a piece of art like nothing it had seen before. Based on dozens of interviews V conducted with women, the play addressed women’s sexuality and the social stigma surrounding rape and abuse, creating a new conversation about and with women. The Vagina Monologues ran Off-Broadway for five years in New York and then toured the United States. After every performance, V found women waiting to share their own stories of survival, leading her to see that The Vagina Monologues could be more than a moving work of art on violence; she divined that the performances could be a mechanism for moving people to act to end violence.
Jersey’s recent publication of the Violence Against Women and Girls Task Force Report and the Government's commitment to the 77 recommendations from the report makes this a very topical play for Jersey. 13 amazing actresses will perform monologues and choral work as they explore the comical highs and the emotional lows in the stories about our female anatomy
VIP Night: Wednesday 11 March – a chance to dress up for the theatre. Includes a welcome drink and opening address from JAAR. £35 – only 50 available
Show is recommended for 16+ audiences due to the sensitive and explicit nature of some of the content.
Making a difference

The Jersey Amateur Dramatic Club’s production of The Vagina Monologues raised an incredible £5,500 for JAAR. This achievement was made particularly possible thanks to the generous support of Soroptimist Jersey, whose kind donation covered the theatre hire for our special gala performance.
JAAR was chosen specifically because of the themes and conversations raised throughout the show. Many members of the cast and production team also had deeply personal reasons for supporting the charity, making this fundraising total especially meaningful to everyone involved.
The funds raised will help JAAR continue its vital work supporting survivors of sexual violence and abuse in Jersey. The charity provides specialist services including counselling, advocacy, and support programmes, helping individuals rebuild confidence and recover from trauma in a safe and supportive environment.
Director Dani Perrier said she was overwhelmed by the support the production received from the local community and proud that the show provided an opportunity to share so many important stories about the strength, resilience, and experiences of women.
